Update For Those Who Are Waiting On Orders With All The New THM Products September 15 2015
We are busy contacting each of you this evening via email to provide you all with an update on your orders. Those of you that have orders pending with any of the following products - The two new Trim Healthy Mama Books, Gentle Sweet, Xylitol and the new Trim Healthy Naturals line - we had planned to ship out your orders today. Unfortunately, we were informed that there will be a Canadian wide delay on the shipping of the books to the THM warehouse. All of the products will be arriving to us in one big order so even if your order did not contain the new books there will still be a delay. We do apologize and there was a glitch on the publishers end which is out of our control. The good news is we have each and every box already packed and all we need to do is add the new items so we should be quick and efficient once everything arrives to us. As soon as we finish the packages you will receive a shipping notification email and this will contain your tracking number with Canada Post. We are hoping this is a very brief delay of just a few days!

What an exciting few weeks to be a Trim Healthy Mama!
First we all received a surprise from Pearl and Serene for those who pre-ordered the new books due to be released Sept 15 - the sneak peeks and free downloadable goodies!
The second surprise was the release of Trim Healthy Mama Gentle Sweet and Xylitol into Canada due to arrive at the same time as the new books! We know so many of you have been waiting to try this new product and from what we are hearing the Gentle Sweet and Baking Blend are big in the new cookbook!
The third surprise was late last night we received word that 4 of the Trim Healthy Naturals products are now available in Canada! Like I said what a week! We have ordered the scented and unscented Hippie Sticks, Orange Silk Cream and The Spunj. We are still waiting for Bountiful Balm and Kit Clear as they are still not available. Orders with these products will ship Sept 15!

Canada Post Outage August 21 to 24 August 24 2015
Just a quick note to let everyone know that as of Friday Aug 21 at 9pm EST Canada Post turned off their servers for some scheduled maintenance. They had hoped they would be back up and running by Sunday Aug 23 at 7pm EST. This was set back to 11pm EST and as of this morning they are still down.
For those that tried to place orders over the weekend we are hoping that this glitch will be fixed and we will be back up and running later today. For those that were able to get orders placed during the weekend (those with flat rate shipping and free shipping as no need for the Canada Post server) we are hopefully able to process those later today as we still can not generate shipping labels.

Trim Healthy Mama'fied Dutch Monarch Gourmet Ice Cream
Well it was plus 32 degrees for the last 3 days here and I made great use of our newest product - Dutch Monarch Gourmet Ice Cream. It was quick and super easy to whip up and the kids and all the company couldn't stop raving about it. I kept it pretty basic and put out a few options for people to just add to the ice cream - like chopped up ChocoRite bars, peanuts and berries. I think next time I will get more creative and add different fixings to the ice cream prior to freezing it. I was also able to find whipping cream with zero carbs so it brought the carb count down to zero and 1 net gram of carbs for the vanilla and chocolate, respectively.
The pictures below show how quick and simple this really is.
1) step one measure 2 cups of whipping cream and 1/2 cup of cold water
2) Add the mix
3) stir until all of the powder is wet
4) blend on high with a hand held blender for about 3-4 minutes - it becomes thicker like mouse
5) cover and freeze

Ice Cream - Quick and Easy and So Yummy:

Trim Healthy Mama - The Scale Does Not Always Tell The Tale!
After almost a year of Trim Healthy Mama I thought this was a great write up to share with all of you as it is so very true. Like so many of the posts I read from fellow Trim Healthy Mama's I stalled many times over the course of my year. Yes, at times it was frustrating as that scale just would not budge. I would keep telling myself that was okay because I was still eating and enjoying food and was not gaining - which is to me a big deal. I did learn little tricks along the way to stay motivated as even though my scale did not move - a few inches would disappear or a pair of pants would fit just that much better.
1) Take Pictures - I wish I would have done more of this even set intervals like every 4 weeks. I have seen so many people that have done this and their pictures motivated me to keep going at time. So, take a few minutes every 4 weeks and take a picture to look back on because even if that scale is not moving or has moved very little the physical changes will astound you.
2) Find That Tape Measure: That is one thing that I did do - I took measurements when I started and would take them every 6 weeks or so. I did find like so many of you that even though my weight might be staying the same somehow I was losing inches!
3) A Goal Outfit: I didn't so much have a full outfit but there was always a pair of pants in my closet that I had purchased that I thought I would somehow by magic or vacuum suction be able to fit into - we all have that pair of pants! I would occasionally try them on just to see and slowly but surely they eventually fit. There is nothing more motivating then that!
4) Track Your Exercise: I haven't done as good of a job of this piece as I could have and that is one thing I am working towards improving. There are lots of things you can do to set small attainable goals to fit fitness into your daily routines. We have just recently purchased Fitbit's to motivate ourselves and each other - stay tuned for some Fitbit challenges for those of you who would like to participate!

We have been tracking our THM Baking Blend Shipment and it is well on it's way. It shipped from Trim Healthy Mama's warehouse on June 4 - they have been so busy with the launch of Baking Blend (powdered gold I have heard it called :)) that our order was a bit delayed. I believe they have sold out at least 3 or 4 times already since they launched! Not to worry as we have 250 pounds of it arriving and orders will be out for delivery on Wednesday.

Exercise Routines May 23 2015
Health Benefits of Exercise
There are so many health benefits of exercise. We've all heard this and read this over and over again. I know I feel great when I'm getting my exercise, and not nearly as great when I'm not. There are countless articles and books written on this topic. The Mayo Clinic has information on their website on the benefits of exercise. Serene and Pearl recognize the importance of this in their book Trim Healthy Mama. Authors Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge M.D. have lots to say about this in their book Younger Next Year.
For me the hardest part is fitting it into my weekly schedule because my weekly schedule is usually not planned out around "me". Time seems to be a scarce resource for me and I've come to the conclusion, and not for the first time, that I need to put a higher priority on making sure I am getting enough exercise. So what's my plan this time? Well, I just celebrated my 50th birthday, so now I'm more serious than ever to make sure I find a way to "work-in" my "work-out".
I've been making "OK" progress on this over the past month or so, but I feel like the priority could easily shift away from this again (as it has countless times before). I've come to realize that my plan needs to have some built in flexibility and that my schedule needs to include my workout times and alternate workout times. It also needs to be fun and I need to feel motivated, and it needs to be simple and include things I can do on my own or with someone else. So here is my three point plan to get started on putting priority on exercise. I expect that I will add to and adjust this plan as I go, but for now, here's my start-up plan:
I am setting up an exercise calendar, and I'm giving myself permission to treat my exercise as a high priority item. It might be a simple list written in pen, or I might add it to my work calendar or I might add it to my home calendar or I might set it up on another calendar all on it's own, but whatever I chose, I am going to schedule this as a priority. Ideally this will include some time for cardio training and some time for resistance training.
Motivation to Exercise
I need to keep this fun and flexible. I have two great ideas on this front. I am really interested in joining a gym. I did have a gym membership for years and recently gave it up as I couldn't justify the cost because I just couldn't find the time to go. I really miss my gym workouts and I do think that if I schedule my exercise realistically I would go. I also think I might be more motivated to exercise with some"buddy" from time to time. I enjoy exercising on my own, but it's also fun to exercise with friends and family. Jeana and I have had a lot of fun with exercise classes and some great Zumba workouts, and my husband and I love to cross country ski and although I can't keep pace (yet) we do find some time to jog together now and then.
I think that if I plan my workout routines and track my exercise it will help me see progress and it will also give me some data to use to set some realistic goals. I am really interested in learning more about the Fitbit and I think that I would like one with a heart rate monitor so that I measure my work out efforts. Whether I track this on a list on paper (i.e. the time it takes to jog my planned route) or invest in a device of some sort, I am going to try to track my exercise and use this information for scheduling and for setting some goals.

Spring Tune Up - Fuel Cycle Time! May 13 2015
Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Cycle Time
Well here we go - it has been awhile since I have done a Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Cycle and today is the day I decided that I will be starting one. I have loved my E and S and FP free styling but I need to do a little tune up and get back to basics and see if I can get some of those stubborn pounds moving again!
This is my week long experience for my Fuel Cycle including recipes and results!
Days 1, 2 and 3 - S Day's
- 3 eggs fried in a bit of butter
- I added some mushrooms and green beans
- seasonings to taste - sea salt and onion salt
- raw red pepper on the side
- Basic whey smoothie - I use one scoop of Trim Healthy Mama Pristine Whey Powder
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- Trim Healthy Mama Sweet Blend or other sweetener of your choice to taste
- dash of vanilla
- unsweetened almond milk
- dash of sea salt
- I like to add flavors so I used LorAnn Strawberry Kiwi - made a yummy smoothie!
- 1 chicken breast
- large salad with mixed veggies (celery, lettuce, cucumbers and peppers)
- olive oil dressing with a bit of vinegar
- I made a double batch of the smoothie from above - keeping it easy :)
- a few pieces of skinny chocolate
- steak cut into strips and fried with a bit of butter and Frank's Red Hot Sauce
- 1 yellow, orange and red pepper and half an onion stir fried in butter
- skinny chocolate
This might seem boring to eat the same thing for three days in a row however I find that I make large batches of food and it makes my life much easier when working full time and trying to stay organized especially juggling so many balls. Normally, when I am free styling with Trim Healthy Mama I don't eat the same thing everyday but with a Fuel Cycle I felt this would be the easiest way for me to not "worry" about my food.
So, after three great days of clean solid S meals my body was completely emptied out of all excess glucose. One thing I like to do during a THM Fuel Cycle is use Ketostix.
I am not sure if any of you have ever used them - they are available without a prescription from your local pharmacy. You can test your urine to see if you are in ketosis which indicates that your body is burning Fat as you have not provided it any other fuel sources. I test daily during a Fuel Cycle and as you can see from the picture above the brighter the "pink/purple" the stronger your ketones are and the more fat your body is burning off.
Days 4 & 5 - Fuel Pull Days
The last time I did a Fuel Cycle I didn't have the luxury of some of the newest Trim Healthy Mama products like Baking Blend and Naught-Naughty Noodles and Rice. I have to say this made Fuel Pull days super satisfying and so very yummy. I even tried a bunch of new recipes these two days which made it even more fun!
Breakfast - I had this both days
- large egg white omelette
- seasonings to taste - sea salt, pepper and onion salt
- one laughing cow light cheese wedge melted inside
- mushrooms and green peppers
- Cottage Berry Whip - from the Trim Healthy Mama Book. I made a double serving and ate about 1/4 - 1/2 with breakfast
Morning Snack - I had this both days
- 1 slice of FP angel Cake. This was a new one for me and it was really good. I found this recipe on Jennifer's website - A Home With Purpose. Check it out as there are lots of yummy ones to choose from!
- I had made a blueberry sauce for on top of the cake - 11/4 cup of blueberries, sweetener of choice and a little bit of glucci all boiled on the stove and then chilled to a spread/jam :)
- then I added a little bit of the blueberry spread along with some left over Cottage Berry Whip - kind of like a sinful whipped cream with a nice berry/jam topping underneath - oh my :)
Lunch - I had this both days
- 3 ounces of Chicken breast cubed
- Sweet and Spicy Asian Stir Fry - from the Trim Healthy Mama Book - page 341. I have to say I had never tried this one before and so glad I gave it a try it was so easy and very very good! It is one of those super quick recipes to make and you always have the ingredients handy and it makes a ton of food!
- Trim Healthy Mama Not Naughty Noodles
Afternoon Snack - I had this both days
- I had more of the angel cake with toppings :) - I know right tough day!
- for supper on Day 4 I had leftover Sweet and Spicy Asian Stir Fry
- 1for supper on Day 5 I made a large egg white omelette with mushrooms and green peppers and seasonings to taste
- I added 1 wedge of laughing cow light cheese
- 1 serving of THM FP Swiss Bread - so yummy. The recipe for this can be found in the new THM Ezine! If you haven't already signed up to receive them click HERE.
- I then added the omelette into the bread and made a fabulous sandwich!
- A big boy smoothie from the Trim Healthy Mama Book
Testing these two days with Ketostix showed heavy ketosis and happy to say I am down about 5lbs so far! Let's see what the final week brings

This was a very successful Fuel Cycle for me as it helped give me the tune up I was looking for. The final results is 6lbs are now gone and the scale is moving again after a three month stall. I went down a pants size - I could wear them but not in public :). I will do one more Fuel Cycle and then let my body go back to free styling again for awhile. If you have stubborn "donkey" weight as Pearl and Serene call it and you have been stalled for awhile then you might also want to consider a tune up and do a Fuel Cycle.

Most of you know that cinnamon is also beneficial for heart disease as well as sugar control. Second, a compound in cinnamon can act on cells by mimicking insulin which greatly improves glucose uptake by cells, although it acts much slower than insulin itself.

One of my favorite Trim Healthy Mama discoveries is the Healing Trimmy. I've been enjoying one with my breakfast or afternoon snack for the past few months, with MCT oil and Great Lakes Gelatin - Collagen Hydrolysate. Why Hydrolyzed Collagen Supplementation?
